Information
Weltzien Skypark Airport is one of world's busiest general aviation airports with over 130 aircraft based at the airfield.
History
Skypark Airport was established in 1965 by Daniel E. Weltzien as a residential airport.
In 1965, Sir Weltzien acquired a 100 acre farm Acme Hill. It soon became his private airstrip and commuted by airplane to his daily job. Soon after, some friends of his joined and built their houses on ground parcels around the airstrip.
Today, Skypark Airport is an airport housing 93 hangars, 135 based planes and 49 residential homes.
The flying club counts over 800 active members, including aircraft owners.
The airport has an outstanding safety record: no deadly accidents have been recorded over the past 40 years.
